Equipment Demo: Test Before You Buy
Try out new machines and equipment for free before buying it. This script mod lets you request a demonstration for selected vehicles and attachments directly in the shop, put them to work on your farm, and then return or purchase them.
Features
- Two free demo units per in-game year
- Up to two demos active at the same time
- Combine different items, such as a combine harvester with a matching header
- Each item put into service consumes one demo unit
- Demo duration: two in-game days or ten operating hours, whichever comes first
- No demo or rental fees; fuel, AdBlue, and repair costs still apply
In the shop
Open the shop page for an available new item, configure it as desired, and select “Request Demo”. Once you are finished, the option changes to “Return Demo”. If you purchase the tested machine, its configuration, operating hours, wear, dirt level, and contents are retained. Demo status and annual usage remain saved after reloading the game.
How to use
- Choose an item in the shop and set up the desired configuration.
- Select “Request Demo” and confirm the conditions.
- Collect the item from the dealer and test it on your farm.
- To return it, open the item’s shop page again and select “Return Demo”.
- Empty the machine, park it safely, switch off the engine, and exit.
Use the console command edDemo to check demo status or purchase a machine that is currently being tested. Returning or buying a machine does not restore its annual demo unit. Demo equipment cannot be sold.
Installation
Place the FS25_EquipmentDemo.zip file in your mods folder without extracting it, then enable the mod when loading your save. The script is intended for single-player on PC and Mac and has been tested on Windows. Multiplayer and consoles are not supported, and compatibility with Mac and third-party mods has not yet been fully verified.
Important information
This is a public beta. Create a backup of your save before using the mod and keep it enabled while demo equipment is in use. Used items, packages, pallets, and bags are excluded. Some modded equipment or hidden cargo systems may require additional compatibility checks.
