MT-LB Multi-Purpose Light Armored Transporter

The MT-LB (Многоцелевой Тягач Лёгкий Бронированный) is a Soviet-designed light armored tracked vehicle widely used around the world. Powered by a YaMZ-238V diesel engine producing 240 hp, it reaches a top speed of 60–65 km/h on roads and is fully amphibious at 5–6 km/h in water. Weighing between 9.7 and 12 tons depending on the variant, it accommodates a 2-person crew and up to 11 soldiers or equivalent cargo. The 3–14 mm armor provides protection against small arms fire and shrapnel. Standard armament includes a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, with numerous variants featuring 23 mm autocannons, rocket launchers, mortar systems, anti-tank guided missiles, and anti-aircraft weapons. Its modular design makes it suitable as a troop transport, logistics vehicle, armored ambulance, weapons platform, artillery tractor, and reconnaissance vehicle. Renowned for its reliability in arctic, desert, and marshland environments, the MT-LB is a truly universal military platform used by over 30 countries.
