Realistic Water & Soil Management (RWSM) expands Farming Simulator with an in-depth, persistent water, soil, and plant model. Fields feature a multi-layered water balance (topsoil, root zone, subsoil) that individually accounts for precipitation, irrigation, evaporation, seepage, drainage, runoff, and plant water uptake.
Different soil types such as loamy sand, sandy loam, clay, and silty clay each have their own properties for field capacity, wilting point, water retention, infiltration, drainage, bearing capacity, and sinking depth. Loamy and clay-rich soils store more water but stay soft longer and are more prone to compaction. Regional climate influences precipitation, temperature, wind, humidity, and sunlight, directly affecting soil moisture and evaporation.
Soil compaction is stored separately for topsoil, root space, and underbody and is influenced by vehicle weight, payload, wheel and axle loads, tire width and pressure, recommended field pressure, soil moisture, soil type, slip, speed, and cornering. Root health, drought stress, waterlogging, oxygen deficiency, nutrients, and pH are simulated, affecting water and nutrient uptake. Actual yield depends on water balance, dryness, waterlogging, root health, compaction, soil structure, nutrients, pH, seedbed, weeds, lanes, and mechanical damage.
Weeds compete for water, nutrients, light, and space and can reduce growth and yield. Tillage implements such as plows, cultivators, disc harrows, rotary harrows, subsoilers, seeders, and rollers are evaluated for working depth, soil moisture, compaction, structure, and seedbed strength. Deep loosening is only effective at suitable soil moisture; working wet soil causes structural damage.
A functional Rainstar irrigation system with motor pump, hose reel, sprinkling rail, adjustable pump pressure and radius, automatic hose retraction, work and transport modes, and visible water jet is included. Applied water is fed into the soil balance.
Extended field info displays topsoil moisture, pore saturation, surface condition, excess water, water content of all soil layers, soil type, evaporation, temperature, wind, compaction, structure, seedbed strength, root condition, plant vitality, height, density, stress causes, and climate values.
An open Water-Soil API provides other mods with data on soil type, moisture, pore saturation, plant-available water, trafficability, sinking depth, compaction, track depth, root condition, evaporation, recommended tire pressure, and plant vitality. Integration with Visual Mud Tracks enables realistic visualization of tracks, sinking, and tire behavior.
Required mods: Precision Farming, Visual Mud Tracks.
