Soil Compaction

Soil Compaction adds realistic soil compaction to the game. Heavy machinery compacts the ground beneath its wheels and tracks, reducing crop yield.

The degree of compaction depends on vehicle weight, tyre type and soil condition. Narrow tyres compact the soil the most, while wide tyres, dual wheels and tracks cause less compaction. Wet soil compacts faster, whereas frozen soil compacts much more slowly.

Compaction is displayed on a dedicated map layer and in the field info panel. Ploughs, subsoilers, cultivators, harrows, seeders and planters gradually loosen the soil again. A slow natural recovery is also applied over time.
