Enjoying your UAS Tayet, but wishing it had a jump drive? We did too! United Workers Union presents the Jump Assist Ring (JAR), a standalone module capable of propelling your Tayet (or with a little space engineering, any ship!) hundreds or thousands of kilometers in an instant. Utilizing barely understood Jump technology, the JAR enables the on-the-go worker to dock, jump, and disconnect; while they go to work, the JAR recharges, ready to send them back home when the work is done.
Wanna Go Far? Get in the JAR!
The JAR enables small-grid and small large-grid ships to utilize Jump Drives, without reconfiguring the ship itself. Simply attach to the conveniently-located connector and go! Built to be light, the ring assures that even heftier ships can bound across the universe in a single step. Carry 1008t of ship and cargo before maximum jump distance is reduced, and even summon the ring to you via antenna and remote control technology.
Features:
- A jump drive to get you up to 2000km in an instant, thus breaking the speed of light!
- Efficient small ion thrusters (6 forward, 4 backward/up/down, 3 left/right) to propel you to the stars using electricity!
- 2 powerful spotlights to allow you to use the JAR as a mobile work lamp in dark areas such as the far side an asteroid.
- 5 small reactors to recharge the jump drive at full speed and power the ion thrust packs.
- 1 small cargo container to carry additional ammunition, ice, or cargo.
- 2 connectors, one for the ship and one to allow the JAR to dock at a station for fueling, offloading, or storage.
- Passthrough design allows you to enter from the rear of the ring and exit from the front for ships narrower than 32m (including any turret barrel collision boxes)
Construction:
This jump ring was designed to be built after getting to space and discovering gold, platinum, and uranium. If uranium is in extremely short supply, all 5 of the reactors can be replaced with batteries, but this will drastically limit the usefulness of the ring due to recharge times. 5 batteries are good for approximately 4 full-distance jumps before a recharge is required. The jump count depends on the trickle drain from other items such as the lights, antenna, remote control and the power needed to supply the ion thrusters.
Help! I built this but the remote control hotbar is all squares!
Not to worry! The remote control settings are below:
- Jump Drive On/Off
- Jump Drive Range Decrease
- Jump Drive Range Increase
- Jump Drive Jump
- Spotlights Group On/Off
- Blank
- Ship Connector Switch Lock
- Base Connector Switch Lock
- Antenna On/Off
Flight:
This flies like any other ship, but must be piloted from the Remote Control on the ring, unless a Subgrid Thrusters Control script is added or the docked ship has a merge block that is able to connect the ship to the JAR.
Docking/flight procedure for the UAS Tayet:
- Align to the ring from the rear.
- Fly into ring and bring connectors into contact. Tip: Go to first person, then use the belly camera on hotbar 2. Align the crosshairs with the light on the pad right behind the connector and come down the connectors touch. That's what the light next to the connector is for.
- Align landing gear with skid pad so the ship is as straight as possible within the ring.
- Turn off your hydrogen thrusters. Do this before you lock the connector and allow the ship to settle to 0 m/s.
- Connect the connector. Lock the landing gear too if you want, but it's not required. Optionally, turn off the batteries so they don't recharge off of the reactors and make you waste 20% of your uranium.
- Connect to the remote control from the menu and use it to Control the ring.
- Fly or jump as desired!
Undocking procedure for the UAS Tayet:
- Disconnect from the remote control.
- Enable your hydrogen thrusters and batteries.
- Disconnect the connector, and unlock the landing gear.
- Fly forward out of the ring.
Feedback:
If you like the JAR, please rate it! This helps other people find it and lets me know if I'm releasing good content. If you have any feedback, questions, or just want to let me know what you think, leave a comment! I'm always on the lookout for new optimizations to the design, so if you make any modifications that you think would benefit others, post them here so we can all see it.
