Wheel tracks, tyre marks and plough furrows now remain on your fields after saving and reloading. Depressions are stored as genuine soil deformations and restored when needed.

How it works

  • Preserves wheel tracks from tractors, implements, trailers and harvesting machines.
  • Supports vehicles from the base game as well as all mods.
  • Saves tyre patterns, the depth of soil deformations and furrows created by ploughs.
  • Tracks remain until the soil is worked again.

Soil-working behaviour

  • Ploughs, cultivators, disc harrows, subsoilers, packers, rollers, ridgers and seeders level the soil and remove existing tracks.
  • Direct seeders do not level the soil; they only remove older furrows.

Installation and use

Copy the ZIP file into the game's mods folder without extracting it, then enable it in your savegame. The mod requires no configuration and operates entirely in the background. It can be added to an existing savegame, but tracks created before activation are not captured. After loading, saved tracks are restored progressively. The data is stored in the soilDeformationSave.xml file inside the relevant savegame folder.

Important information

  • Tracks are only recorded on arable land, not on roads. Furrows are not restored in areas where crops have already been sown.
  • On maps with a coarse terrain grid, restored tracks may appear slightly shallower than freshly created ones.
  • The mod works in single-player and on servers and when hosting. Multiplayer clients do not see restored tracks, and the ZIP file must be used in multiplayer.
  • If an extremely large number of tracks is stored, the oldest tracks are smoothed first due to memory limitations.
