ACI Feros Class Interceptor, produced by Ares Combat Industries

The rapid introduction of the Feros during the war meant that the DRO Navy could quickly replace older fighters with this new and improved version. Fighters like the Challenger and Sidewinder started to become obsolete and have also been sold to the public. The Feros features a substantial amount of armor for its size, which makes it slightly more durable than previous interceptors. Weapon systems have been kept similar to those of older interceptors. Ultimately the Feros is more geared to space combat, but if certain criteria are met can be used in aerial combat. However, it needs to be carried out of the atmosphere, because its ion thrusters are not powerful enough to break away from a planetary gravity field. Additionally the Feros runs on battery power, meaning that you will not always have to worry about refueling power cores. You just simply charge the craft up again. The Feros has been perfectly adapted to the Orion, when using it for space combat.

Important

The Feros Interceptor is capable of flying in space and on planets and performs quite well in both environments. However, it cannot leave a planetary atmosphere at 1G alone. It needs some sort of transport that can take it from a planet back to space. ACI is not ready to publicly release this craft due to security reasons.
