description
Helghan is a planet orbiting the star Alpha Centauri A located in the Alpha Centauri System, 4.2 light-years away from the Solar System. It is home planet to the Helghast.
Helghan is a remote and desolate world with unfavorable conditions for human habitation. The planet is covered by an ocean and a rocky terrain dominated by canyons and dunes with some arctic areas.
It has an infertile soil but in compensation it is extremely rich in natural resources and minerals, mainly uranium.
The planet is known to have very dangerous electrical storms!
Resources:
U - 22.2%
Pt - 13.0%
Au - 11.1%
Ag - 11.1%
Fe - 11.1%
Ni - 9.5%
Co - 8.0%
Mg - 7.0%
Si - 7.0%
Gravity: 1.1G
Oxygen: Low (unbreathable)
Temperature: always cold
Wind Speed: very fast (favorable for wind energy)
Recommended Size: 80km to 120km
Weather - UPDATE
Helghan now has custom weathers!
- Helghan Dust: It slightly increases the wind output but affects negatively the solar output. Due to the large amount of particles in the air, it decreases the oxygen level and temperature.
- Light Sandstorm: It increases the wind output but affects negatively the solar output. It also drops the temperature and the oxygen level.
- Electrical Storm: Like the others, it strongly affects solar output, decreases temperature and oxygen levels but, on the other hand, it highly increases the wind output. WARNING! The electrical storm is highly dangerous! Always seek shelter and place several decoys (as lightning rods) well positioned around the base to prevent the lightnings from destroying everything!
- Snow: At the poles it snows most of the time but there are no severe storms.
- Rain: Rain means life on Helghan! It increases the air quality and warm the planet, but it is rare to happen.
Lore:
"The Helghan Corporation's colonization fleet first reached Helghan when they entered Alpha Centauri in 2128, and named it after their company. The planet was deemed uninhabitable due to hazardous dust and lightning storms, so the Helghan Corporation chose to deploy a prefabricated space station in its orbit to manage automated facilities on the surface.
Orbital facilities began to grow around Helghan in the following years, and the Helghan Corporation made good profits from the production of energy on Helghan, which was sold to ships which passed through the system. Shipbuilding also becomes an industry of Helghan, and becomes the largest of its kind outside of Earth.
Helghans population pre-war was an estimated two billion people but post-war Helghan only has about 400 million people left, whilst the rest of the Helghasts fled to Vekta as refugees."
